Summer camps
This camp teaches your children how to read, write and conceptualize rhythms in a fun and interactive environment using synthesizers and other instruments. Rhythm and time are the difficult musical concepts to understand for most students, this camp utilizes exciting interactive games, fun challenges, group collaboration, and much more to make reading and playing rhythm fun.

PRICE: $750/session
DATES: Session 1: Monday, June 17 - Friday, June 21
Session 2: Monday, June 24 - Friday, June 28
CAMP ACTIVITIES:
Introduction to music theory through learning music genres
Learn about synthesizers and sequencers
Arts & crafts time building instruments for campers to take home and designing their own album cover or poster
Learn about time signatures, note durations, and counting in fun and interactive ways
Group improvisation and counting games
Karaoke Time!
One-on-One time with a teachers
Special guest shows/demos w/ local musicians, DJs, and composers!
Take home fresh audio recordings made from camp activities and live jam sessions!
Field trip to SF Moma to explore the ‘Art of Noise’ exhibit
Park time and urban hikes/outdoor games
SAMPLE DAILY SCHEDULE:
9-9:30am: Doors open for meet and greet
9:30am: Rhythm circle and Improvisation games
10:30am: Learning circle with synthesizers and other instruments
11:00am: One-on-One time with the teachers or free period (snack time)
11:30am: Instrument building and decorating
12:30pm: Lunch provided
1:00pm: Special guests and park time
2:30pm: Afternoon snack and closing rhythm circle and improvisation games
3-3:30pm: Pick-up time

*Lunch and morning snack provided. Please bring a water bottle and afternoon snack.
Students are welcome to bring any instrument of their choosing.

About Benjamin
Benjamin Gribble is a composer and music teacher living in San Francisco who studied composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He currently teaches piano, music theory, composition, and improvisation privately and at Hamlin School for Girls. He also professionally composes for film, theatre, and businesses.
He is very active in the Bay Area music community participating in Sunset Piano and Flower Piano in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens each summer. His work with these groups has been featured in the documentary "12 Pianos". He also performs regularly as part of St. Larsen Duo alongside Esther Aeschbach and is part of a music collective,The Notesmen, a group that tests the boundaries of modern notation, improvisation, and noise making. I provide novel and engaging music lessons utilizing popular and classical music to further students’ musical understanding and technique. We will improvise and sight-read together to help develop a working knowledge of musicality and movement.
I strive to help students listen to and understand the music they know and love through musical development and ear training. I am also happy to arrange popular songs and simplify advanced compositions to suit each students’ skill levels. Contact about lessons.
